Well, you've got a number of options:

First, you can subscribe to our internal mailing list where we exchange various information about AEGEE events, our meetings as well as other interesting information. You are welcome to join. For this, you need to send us a short information about yourself to the following address aegee_minsk@yahoo.com . Please, indicate which e-mail address you'd like to be subscribed. No spam is guaranteed.

Second, you can subscribe to our mailing list for organizers of the Summer University-2008 which will be held in August. For this, please, send a request and short bio about yourself to the following address - d.m.k@bk.ru .Fast reply is guaranteed. Check it out! ;)

Third, if you're an active blogger, you might be interested in subscribing to our RSS feed. Welcome to a weblog ("we-blog") of AEGEE-Minsk!

Yes, a miracle happened, and AEGEE-Minsk has its own, independent, blog! It's about serious blogging then, and everyone is warmly invited to contribute to its development.

The blog has been very recently designed, so hopefully everything has been taken into consideration. However, feel free to comment upon possible problems or new features for this blog. We promise each of your concerns will become our concern too :)

Now,

1. What is this blog about? Or what is this blog for?

Very simple: this blog is a communication tool of AEGEE-Minsk with the outside world, including other antennae of AEGEE, interested people in Minsk/Belarus, other organizations or just occasional visitors. Importantly, the blog is supposed to serve as a communication platform between present and "past" (everyone know that there's no way out in AEGEE, like on the Internet or occult group...) AEGEE-Minsk members who are very much dispersed all over the globe at this moment.

2. Who has access to this blog?

At the initial stage, the access for posting will be limited to maintainers group only, reliable people from AEGEE-Minsk (yes, we don't trust anyone). Hopefully, the access will be broadened to some other interested and reliable people. However, everyone has a right to make a comment. Comments are not moderated so far. So, we'll see how it goes.

3. Are there any rules at this blog?

Being ardent bureaucrats as we are, definitely there are a few rules we can't do without.

Rule #1: A preferrable language for communication is English (local dialects are tolerated), unless you can't express yourself in other language. Also, make sure that others will understand you.

Rule #2: When posting, do provide a subject and a tag/label for your message (specific words that describe the theme of your message). Please, note that the number of tags/labels is limited.

Rule #3: Please, never mention your full name or full name of other people. For security & conspiracy reasons. Remember: we are not a religious organization, and yet.

It seems to be all for the moment. However, if anything comes up, more rules will be stipulated. If you have any questions or suggestions, leave them here as comments to this post. Otherwise, feel free as if you are back home. :)

Key to Europe - new edition arrived!

As you know, Key to Europe is an annual publication of AEGEE covering major events, projects, people in the organization over the year. A very stylish layout, interesting articles, opening speech by the president of Slovenia Dr. Danila Turk are the key features of the fresh edition of Key to Europe. Make sure, to get a copy! There's only two of them left (others where probably taken away at the customs control...as usually, though).

To get a copy come to one of AEGEE-Minsk meetings.

АЕGEE (Еўрапейскі форум студэнтаў) - міжнародная студэнцкая арганізацыя, мэтай якой з'яўляецца культурная інтэграцыя, мабільнасць і нефармальная адукацыя паміж студэнтамі розных краін Еўропы. АЕGEE - мае 17 тыс. студэнтаў больш чым у 220 гарадах Еўропы, у тым ліку ў Мінску і Гродна.

AEGEE-Minsk. Як вы ўжо магчыма здагадаліся, гэта лакальная філія AEGEE ў Мінску. Дзейнічае з 1999г. і, як ні дзіўна, дагэтуль. За гэты час быў праведзены шэраг лакальных і міжнародных праектаў (гл. тут) . Калі жадаеце далучыцца да нашай суполкі, тэлефануйце xxx-xxx-xxx, альбо лістуйце на адрас aegee_minsk@yahoo.com.

З бліэйшых праектаў у Мінску, плануецца правядзенне летняга ўніверсітэту пад назвай "Don't Touch Cookies" разам з AEGEE-Grodno (мінская частка 9-га па 16-е жніўня). Прыяжджае шмат замежных студэнтаў, далучайцеся, будзе цікава! Праграму можна паглядзець тут.

Hurray! In cooperation with AEGEE-Grodno, AEGEE-Minsk is going to have a Travelling Summer University this year!

Title: "Don't Touch Cookies: New Look!" (for short: Cookies Reloaded)
Dates: August 3-16. (Grodno: aug. 3-9, Minsk: 9-16)

Participants: 29 (from different European countries) + local organizers.

Program:

03/08 - Arrival & accommodation of participants, Welcome party, “Ice, Ice, Baby!” games;-)
04/08 - Sightseeing around Grodno, Russian language class, workshop “Fine art of drinking Vodka”, disco;
05/08 – “Pohmel’e” workshop, Belarusian language class, Visit to Kalozha (12 cent. church), Show by Slavic Fighting Club “Aridan”, Steam-Boat Trip, Soviet party;
06/08 - Traditional day: Trip to Porech’e, straw-braiding, belarusian cuisine workshop etc.
07/08 - Art-therapy, city-game, “Who Are You Tonite, Baby?” (sex-change party)
08/08 – trip to Berezovka-Novogrudok-Svityaz’, visit to traditional glass factory, activities at the lake Svityaz’, European Night in the summer camp;

People

People of AEGEE-Minsk are people of a truly unique kind. People that you would meet once and would never forget them, unless you have problems with remembering your own name :)

Most of AEGEE-Minsk members are students of various departments and various universities in Minsk (MGLU, BSU, BSEU, BUK, EHU, etc.) which creates a spirit of diversity and creativity.

Overall, there are about 30 members in AEGEE-Minsk at this moment. However, during 9 years of our existence, the number of people who were involved in our projects has been more than 200 hundred, and perhaps more. Who knows.

Mission

Mission of AEGEE-Minsk is pretty much similar to that of the whole AEGEE (European Students' Forum) network, namely:

to promote a unified Europe without prejudices
to strive for creating an open and tolerant society of today and tomorrowto foster democracy, human rights, tolerance, cross-boarder co-operation,
mobility and European dimension in education

As for AEGEE-Minsk, we promote European cultural and linguistic diversity, student mobility, and non-formal education.

Sounds good, isn't it? What does it mean in practice?

In practice, AEGEE organizes hundreds of events all over Europe each year, i.e. conferences, European Schools, Summer Universities, student exchanges, fun parties and more (see full list of AEGEE events).
